Respondus Powers “ExamGuard” by Pearson eCollege

Pearson eCollege has launched a new version of ExamGuard that is powered by the Respondus LockDown Browser. ExamGuard is a custom browser that creates a locked testing environment within the Pearson eCollege Course Management System. This assessment feature curbs student cheating in online exams and tests.

ExamGuard prevents students from printing, copying, going to another URL or accessing other applications during an exam. Students are unable to search the Internet for answers, send instant messages to classmates or access other areas of the online course. Once an exam is started, students are locked into it until they submit it for grading.

A significant enhancement with the latest version of ExamGuard is its support for Macintosh computers. ExamGuard is now usable with all Windows and OS X versions that are supported by the Pearson eCollege learning platform.

ExamGuard gives instructors flexibility when using it. Instructors can require ExamGuard for some assignments but not others. The exam settings page provides instructors a checkbox for controlling this feature.

For more information on ExamGuard, including licensing details, please contact your Pearson eCollege Client Services representative.
